MacBook Data Recovery — Central Valley, CA

Losing access to your files — photos, documents, projects, or irreplaceable memories — is one of the most stressful things that can happen with a MacBook. Whether your Mac won't boot, the SSD has failed, or liquid damage has left the machine non-functional, Valley Tech Fix offers professional data recovery services that give your files the best possible chance of being rescued.

We recover data from MacBooks across all generations — from Intel-era models with removable SSDs to the latest Apple Silicon Macs with storage integrated directly into the SoC. Our no-data, no-charge policy means you don't pay full recovery fees if we can't get your files.

When Do You Need Data Recovery?

MacBook Won't Boot

If your Mac shows a flashing folder with a question mark, a prohibitory sign (circle with a slash), or simply gets stuck at the Apple logo, the macOS installation or the storage hardware may have failed.

SSD Failure

SSDs can fail suddenly or degrade over time. Symptoms include files disappearing, applications crashing on launch, macOS reporting disk errors in Disk Utility, or your Mac becoming extremely slow.

After Liquid Damage

Even when a water-damaged MacBook is not economically repairable, the data on the SSD may be fully intact. We can often recover files from machines that are otherwise non-functional.

Accidental Deletion

Files deleted from the Trash or folders emptied accidentally may be recoverable depending on how much time has passed and whether new data has been written to the drive.

FileVault Encrypted Drives

If your drive is FileVault-encrypted, recovery requires your macOS login password or FileVault recovery key. We work with encrypted volumes when credentials are available.

Physical SSD Damage

In severe cases — dropped Macs with physically damaged storage, or boards where the SSD controller has failed — specialized chip-off recovery techniques may be required.

Our Data Recovery Process

1. Non-Destructive Assessment

We connect your drive to a read-only forensic bridge that prevents any writes to your storage. This preserves the original state and maximizes recovery chances.

2. Drive Imaging

We create a sector-by-sector image of the drive before attempting any recovery. This means we always work from the copy, never the original, preventing accidental overwriting.

3. Recovery Software Analysis

We run professional data recovery software against the drive image to reconstruct the file system and identify recoverable files.

4. Review & Delivery

You review the list of recoverable files (without paying for full recovery) so you can confirm what's there before we finalize the transfer. Files are delivered to an external drive you provide or one we supply.

5. Chip-Off Recovery (Advanced Cases)

When the SSD controller itself has failed, we can perform chip-off recovery — physically removing the NAND flash chips and reading them directly. This is a last-resort technique for severe cases.

Data Recovery by MacBook Storage Type

Removable PCIe SSD (Intel models, 2013–2020) Older Intel MacBook Air and Pro models have removable PCIe SSDs (proprietary Apple format). These can be connected to a compatible adapter for direct recovery without needing the Mac to boot.

Integrated SSD on Apple Silicon (M1–M5) On all Apple Silicon Macs (M1 through M5 Air and Pro), the SSD is soldered to the logic board and encrypted by the Secure Enclave. Recovery requires either the original Mac to boot (even partially), a DFU-mode restore, or advanced chip-off techniques.

T2 Security Chip Models (Intel 2018+) MacBook Pro and Air models with the T2 chip have encrypted SSDs. Recovery is possible when the Mac can enter DFU mode and the original Apple ID credentials are available.

Fusion Drive / HDD Models (Pre-Retina) Older machines with spinning hard drives have higher physical failure rates but are also more straightforward to recover from using standard imaging techniques.

Data Recovery Pricing

ScenarioPrice Range
Logical recovery (deleted files, corrupted partition)$99–$199
Boot failure recovery (drive readable, OS failed)$149–$249
Failed drive imaging + recovery$199–$349
Liquid damage data extraction$249–$399
Advanced chip-off recovery$349–$499

No data, no full charge — if we cannot recover your files, you pay only the assessment fee, not the full recovery price. We'll give you a recovery assessment before you commit to full service.
